How are SEL and PL connected?
In a fully developed PL model, “students are active participants in setting goals, planning learning paths, tracking progress, and determining how learning will be demonstrated.” (James Rickabaugh)
Before students can take ownership in their own learning, they must be self-aware and have the ability to self-reflect, and teachers need the tools to help students develop these skills. This is the one of the important connections between PL and SEL.
